Hunger pains in dreamland

I believe the reality of how a life has changed and is constantly changing with a kid is beginning to sink in. Initially, we were living on cloud nine raising the perfect child who could do no wrong and had no flaw. Although we are raising tan angel, it has been far from the quintessential dream world we first anticipated. Let me explain...

Tonight we were excited about going to church. We had visions of us sitting together as one big happy family with Asa smiling and giggling at us the entire time (in a non-distracting sort of way). Greg, the pastor, would make some comment about "your spouse is not your roommate...they are your lover" (he really did say that tonight), we would look at each other and give each other that "we've known that for years look." Then kiss.

Oh, how naive we are...

I got off work early, we ate supper together, Dev got Asa ready to rock-n-roll, and we were off. So far so good. However, the moment we sat down in church, Asa started to squirm. This is a bad sign. It either means -

A. He is hungry
B. He has gas
C. He is bored and wants out of his carrier
D. All of the above

None of which is a good thing. It just so happens that he was hungry. So our solution was to give him a bottom of formula that he has never tasted before. Did Asa like it? Absolutely not! Instead of calming him down, it riled him into a tizzy. This resulted with us leaving the sanctuary 5 minutes after we sat down with Asa screaming, Dev on the verge of tears, and me wondering what upset my perfect child. The rest of the church service Dev and Asa were found in an Infant Care Room and I was sitting by myself in the back of the sanctuary.

This was far from what we were anticipating. We are continuing to redefine normal with the help of Ace.
