Camp Life

Life on the road this summer has been a journey.  This will give you a quick glance of what our summer has looked like pregnant at Student Life For Kids Camp. 

We have traveled over 5,000 miles in the cab of a 24 foot penske, hosted over 9,000 people at camp, loaded in the Pirate Ship (see above pic) 9 different times, and heard 39,995 "HOWDY'S" this summer.  It is hard to put into words what a summer like that does for you and to you.  It stretches, challenges, molds you in more ways than you thought possible.  There are moments you hate everything about your life at camp and other times are some of the greatest memories of your life.  You leave the summer completely tired and exhausted but a better person for having the opportunity to experience life on the road.  

Needless to say, this summer has been incredibly precious for me and Dev.  At the start of this summer, we had butterflies in our bellies about what our summer with Student Life will look like with Dev pregnant.  Devanee was at 12 weeks when we hit the road on May 25th to Shocco Springs and is now at 22 weeks.  The size of the baby has sky rocketed from the size of a butter bean to now larger than a banana.  It has gone from an "it" to now a "he".  

For the past month, he has been kicking around inside of Dev's belly.  Dev has nights where she craves nothing but chocolate and other nights the sight of anything sweet makes her want to spew the Shocco "special" she ate for supper.  In summary, she is a trooper.  Dev has journeyed through it all with a baby in her belly and a smile on her face.    

 

 

All that to say, I am a very lucky guy.
