Asa's Birthday Party

Asa is old. He turns one on November 30 and since his birthday is the day after Thanksgiving weekend, we opted to have his birthday party a little early. We met up with family and friends at Landa Park in New Braunfels for a monster themed party.

Here he is sitting in the mouth of his new monster tent given to him by mommy and daddy surrounded by all the "loot" as I like to call it.

We expected him to love unwrapping presents since he usually rips magazines and newspapers to shreds, but as you can see from below, he'd rather play with tennis shoes.


He got lots of really great gifts and we've been having a super week playing with everything.


And now we get to the good stuff. Well, the sweet stuff. A lot of work by Dev, OMee, and I went into Asa's cake and cupcakes.


There were blue boogie monsters, mellow yellow monsters, and green & red one-eyed monsters. (The fly on the far left cupcake was put there on purpose - good protein.)


Typically, we do not give Asa sweets other than fruit. However, it was a different story at his birthday party. He got his own sweet, sugary BLUE cake.


The first few minutes, Ace didn't know what to think. He wasn't that impressed with the goopie mess, but once he tasted the sweet goodness, it grew on him.



Almost literally, it grew on him.


Check out that blue arm. I am convinced Ace would have turned into a Smurf if given the chance.


Notice the hair. Nope, that's not Smurf hair gel, it's icing.


Needless to say Asa enjoyed his cake and all of the family and friends that came out to celebrate our little monster turning ONE!
